The research for my thesis focused on a multi-scale analysis of the impact of lithium on microorganisms. Lithium is a strategic metal sought after for its numerous properties, and it is found in many fields, from alloy manufacturing to its use in medicine. Due to its crucial role in battery production, this alkali metal has become essential for low-carbon energy production. However, its release into the environment, combined with a low recycling rate, classifies it as an emerging contaminant whose potential toxicity remains largely unknown. It is within this context that my thesis work is situated.
