Experimental resources
The experimental resources of LSE are dedicated (i) to the acquisition of knowledge on the dynamics of natural and anthropogenic constituents of ecosystems modified by human activities and (ii) to the modeling of their functioning at different scales, from the soil aggregate to the plot.
The available scientific equipment makes it possible to observe and characterize soil-plant-organism systems under controlled conditions up to field conditions (e.g., lysimeters). The LSE then has its own or shared access within the University of Lorraine and INRAE, a full range of soil characterization tools: physical and chemical fertility, mineral and organic contamination, biological activity (plants, microorganisms, fauna).
LSE has access to shared and labeled platforms (e.g., experimental station on an industrial brownfield; Lorraine Phytotronic Experimental Platform, PEPLor; La Bouzule Experimental Farm ; OTELo Environmental Observatory), which are tools for multidisciplinary research within a gradient of anthropization of soils.
