My research are focused on understanding how the urban and industrial (uncontaminated or contaminated) soil ecosystems can host a surprising high level of biodiversity by characterizing the influence of predominant ecological factors on the colonization success of soil organisms and how organisms are adapted to the special features of anthropized soils (taxonomical and functional approaches). A better description of relationships between biodiversity, its functions and the ecosystems characteristics might help the development of effective and sustainable ecological engineering scenarii (e.g. ecosystem restoration practices, soil and green roofs constructions).
I have led and am/was partner in French and International projects dealing with:
- characterization of relationships between human activities, soil parameters and soil biodiversity in (i) European ultramafic lands (agromining context) ; (ii) Chinese REEs mining sites (iii) a natural attenuation of petroleum contamination context in forest ecosystems, (iv) French anthropized derelict soils ; (v) urban green infrastructures (rooftop garden, private gardens, urban farms and parks).
- pedological engineering in forest soils by earthworms inoculation, and in brownfields by woodlice inoculation.
- citizen science approaches in urban ecosystem to study soils and their biodiversity.
- since 2013: Assistant Professor in Soil Biology / Ecology (section CNU 68), University of Lorraine, Graduate Engineering School for Agronomy and Food Sciences - ENSAIA, France.
- 2012- 2013: Postdoctoral fellow in soil ecology and biogeochemistry, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology department, Nadelhoffer lab. NSF Project, University of Michigan, USA.
